Nanna – Volt Women

Who are you, Who you run with and for how long
My name is Nanna Sine Munnecke I run in Copenhagen

I co-founded Voltwomen – with Julie in Copenhagen and Clemence in Paris – We are platform building a perspective on Women and sports. You can find us on IG @voltwomen and since 2013 have invited the whole world in to join the movement through sports, laughs and discussions.

What was/is your favorite run/race you did and why

Running together with the international crews makes so much sense – the connection and support is strong.

I ran Marseilles Cassis with Paris Run Club, and Have run with every crew or individual I have come across – late night track sessions with Blackroses in NYC or with a young woman in Venice crossing San Marco square at 5:30 in the morning.

One of my recent favorites was Paris Marathon 2019 where Voltwomen invited six women to come run the marathon to have focus on the low participation rate for women in European marathons – It was a sheer joy to have two of the immaculate Patta team runners Adele and Anaisa running the race with us.

I love having people here in Copenhagen for the half marathon – I got Patta Rotterdam crew to jump in the canal and have a truly Scandinavian sauna experience here haha I love that stuff.

-what is your favourite dish before and after the race and why

For a while now we have had a focus on women and nutrition at Voltwomen – the fact is that a lot of women who do sports are not eating well enough to get the most out of their performance. It’s a good example of issues we dive into.

A good meal needs to give you energy to last long and be your best version of self on the day.

I am super bad at this – so right now I practice the full ‘good-dog’ routine of actually getting up early to eat breakfast – mainly porridge w banana – then jump back in bed to get more sleep before the long run Zzzzz.

-your favourite country to travel too for vacation and relaxiations and why

Anywhere I am active. I love the beach – and doing the whole stranded whale vacation is cool but an active vacation is amazing.

Last year I went to Fuerteventura on a crossfit, swimming and running camp. Came back battered and happy. After knowing my boyfriend three weeks we went to Spain and rented racing bikes to ride in the mountains outside Benidorm.

If it’s beautiful and active I love it – it does not matter where.

-you got grown up kids how you combine your busy life and motherhood and the running how you make this happen
It’s not super easy – and to be honest it’s not being alone with the kids nor career getting in the way, but the fact that I am so flexible for everyone around me that it’s hard to be systematic and structured for own agenda.

So I love when people push me – I rely on friends, and they are getting used to it. I tell them what I need – that too is something you learn as a grown ass woman haha. And I am less panicky if I have a few weeks where my training is not cool, I know by now that I can bounce back. I am just super happy to still be here to push for a better life with all that it means – body, mind, heart.
